How this site and this service aim to work for everyone — and how to say when they do not.
Many of the people who need a notary are older, unwell, caring for someone, or booking from a hospital corridor on a phone. Making that easy is the job, not a nice extra.

- Text enlarges without the layout breaking

No rushing. The fee is the same whether it takes ten minutes or forty.
Signing in bed or in a wheelchair is routine.
If a thumbprint is not possible because of a physical condition, California allows another finger or a note explaining why.

Booking by phone. Call (925) 319-8855 — that is the primary way to book right now, and it will stay an option once online booking opens too.
Two things that cannot bendLink to this section
Both are California law, not local policy.
The signer must understand what they are signing and want to sign it. If someone cannot communicate that, the notarization has to stop. This protects them.
The notary and the signer must communicate directly. California does not permit a translator or interpreter between them, including a family member. If a specific language is needed, say so early — it may be possible to point you to a notary who speaks it.
